Marcia grew up in Kansas, and spent time in Colorado, Arizona, Florida, Utah, and Germany before settling in her husband’s western Nebraska hometown to raise their 3 children.  Many of her current works are in water-media collage, using her own painted tissue papers and other serendipitous findings.  Some of these works are abstract, non-objective, but she also enjoys creating interpretations from photographs, and inspirational quotations.  Marcia’s artistic background is based in decorative folk art, which shows up in her doodle boxes and murals. She has studied with JoSonja Jansen, Sonja Wullschlager, Jack Karraker, Ray Schultze, Don Dernovich, Scottie Foster, Betty Baird, Carrie Burns Brown, and Donna Aldridge.

The McCook PTK, six-state competition, awarded Marcia best of show in “other-media”.  Her painting, Hiding in the Moonlight, won best of show at the Holyoke, Colorado Art Show, and took honorable mention at the 2005 Greeley, Colorado National Art Show and Sale.  She’s had paintings exhibited at the Chadron State College juried art show, and at several Chase County Area Arts Council exhibitions.
